Postcards from Italy explores Italian beaches beyond their familiar postcard imagery. Alongside recognisable coastal scenes, the photographs draw attention to the people who often remain invisible within these landscapes.
By placing traditional Italian settings in dialogue with the lives of immigrant workers, the exhibition invites viewers to look beyond the surface of what we imagine Italy to be, and to reflect on what — and whom — we choose not to see.
According to IOM’s Missing Migrants Project data for 2025, at least 2,185 people died or went missing in the Mediterranean, with another 1,214 recorded on the Western Africa/Atlantic route to the Canary Islands. Despite slight year-on-year declines in recorded deaths, the true death toll is likely far higher.
