For the 2023 edition of the analogue photography festival Tank, themed “Apologia del Margine”— a celebration of what exists at the edges of society—I exhibited Rave On a series of photographs shot on film at a rave held in 2006 in the province of Alessandria, Italy. I chose an “illegal” party precisely because, since their inception, raves have always provided a safe space for those who feel excluded from mainstream society, thus becoming a community outside traditional social norms and a celebration of the unconventional and the non-mainstream.
